The department recalled 143 million pounds of frozen beef from the Southern California slaughterhouse, Westland/Hallmark Meat Co., that provided meat to school lunch programs and fast-food chains after a video surfaced showing cattle being abused and mistreated. Two major fast-food chains, Jack-In-the-Box and In-N-Out, said they would not use beef from Westland/Hallmark. The recall affects beef products dating back to February 1, 2006.
Why Is Adobe Trying To Add DRM To Flash?
Whether DRM works or not, there are a great many content providers that will not in any way shape or form let their content be used online, in a format that doesnt include DRM. It doesnt make sense really, seeing as how anyone can rip or re-encode anything that is playable, in some way or another. But lack of DRM is probably keeping Flash out of a lot of businesses out there. The ability to lock out other 3rd party flash software is probably just a bonus (reply to this comment) (link to this comment) by Overcast on Feb 20th, 2008 @ 8:51pm New Hassle - migrate to new solution. America's moment of truth
George W Bush went up to Capitol Hill to deliver the eighth and final State of the Union address of a failed presidency already eclipsed by the intense contest to succeed him. His spinners might speak of Bush's final months as a 'sprint to the finish', but the ritual applause of Congress fooled no one, not even members of his own party. This is a deeply unpopular president hobbling into the sunset. All the Democrats can agree that he has been a disaster; all the Republicans can agree that they'd really rather not talk about him. The real excitement took place a few miles away, a few hours earlier, in a sports arena at Washington's American University. Before a young, multi-racial and delirious crowd, Barack Obama was being anointed as the new John F Kennedy. JFK was no saint, but a link to the legend can add lustre to any Democratic aspirant to the presidency.
Myanmar Voting Dates Win Few Plaudits
The official announcements late Saturday of the constitutional referendum and the election were the first moves by the junta to set dates for stages of its so-called road map to democracy. "The time has now come to change from military rule to democratic civilian rule," said the announcement for the 2010 polls, broadcast on state TV and radio. But critics claim the long-delayed road map is designed to perpetuate military rule, not promote democracy. And at tea shops in Yangon, where morning news and gossip is traditionally exchanged, many seemed unimpressed with the developments. "I am not interested in their referendum because the results are known already," said 48-year old noodle salad seller Mar Mar Aye, echoing the popular belief that the government is confident its constitution will be approved.
